As you all know our neighbors to the east faced a lot of devastation as a result of Hurricane Michael. Our class discussed the situation and how we can help those affected by this storm. I have setup through Amazon.com a wish list of supplies that people affected by this storm are needing at this time. If you order anything from this list it will be shipped to the school will be donated to the Stuff the Bus Campaign for Walton Co. schools. Or if you would like to donate monetarily please see one of the links below to see how. Now is a time for use to come together as community so please donate if you are able.

Transportation: If your child needs is going to go home a different way other than their normal way please make sure to send a note with them to school. If for some reason you need to make a change and you did not send a note or you forgot their note please notify me directly either through ClassDojo or by e-mail. Please try to have all changes to me by 1 pm at the latest.
Homework: (check the front section of your child’s binder) Binders and Planners need to go home and come back to school everyday.Planners: Students will complete their Bay planners in class. Please check it every night for homework, tests and upcoming events. Spelling lists will be glued into their planners each Monday and also posted on this website.
Math: Homework will be sent home daily. The worksheet is directly tied to the lesson of the day. It MUST be completed each night and returned the next day. It will be reviewed in class to check for understanding. Multiplication facts should be studied, timed tests are on Thursdays.
Reading: Students should read for 20 to 30 minutes every night. Please complete and sign the reading log. It will include dates for the month but is due every Friday for the teacher to check. Students will be working on reading 30 books this year, from all genres.
Spelling: This will begin soon. I will send home ideas for ways students can practice spelling. They will get a list of words on Mondays and should practice their words nightly. The tests are on Fridays. Spelling words will be posted on this website in case the list is lost.
Graded work: Students will place “keep at home” papers in the pocket of their binder. Please review your child’s work and check Focus for current grades.
Help Our Classroom Out
One thing we do in our classroom is use small groups. This allows me to better serve each student's needs on a smaller scale. While some students are working with me directly, I have other students working on activities that practice these skills through the use of center activities. As this is my 3rd year teaching 3rd grade my center activities have been limited to what I have been gifted through veteran teachers. This year I would really like to vamp up my center activities with some fun, hands-on, student centered activities that are really going to make the best use of my small group time. I have setup a Donor's Choose project (fantastic website that allows teachers to create fundraisers for resources they need in their classroom) to help meet that goal. You can help by donating to the project or by sharing the link with friends and family. Please consider helping in whatever way you can.
UPDATE 08/16/2018- We met our goal and our project was fully funded! Thanks so much for everyone who shared and donated.
