Shoeboxes are needed! May 14th we begin a project where each child will need a shoebox. Please send one in as soon as you can. Thanks!
AR 100 Point Party - if your child has 100 or more AR points by May 11th, they can participate in this school splash party. Please send an extra pair of clothes and a towel to school. Students will be getting wet in the clothes they are wearing.
Walking Field Trip to Eden Gardens: May 22. Please send in permission slip ASAP. Students need to wear appropriate clothes for walking outside, sneakers, sunscreen and bug repellant.
Mr. Lawson's AR party: The party will be on May 23. If your child has met their individual AR goal by May 22nd, then they can participate in a special picnic lunch outside and treat.
End of Year Awards: ALL PARENTS ARE INVITED! May 24th at 8:30am. Students will be performing a skit, and multiple songs for parents. Students will receive the usual awards and a few special ones. All students will receive a certificate for completion of 3rd grade. We will then have a presentation in our classrooms. Parents will be able to tour all of the 3rd grade Animal Classification Zoos and other special classwork. This is a day to celebrate your child's accomplishments this year!
Last Day of School: Friday May 25th. We will watch a movie, clean the classroom, and celebrate our multiplication facts with our ice cream sundae party.
Parent input needed!
Please help Bay improve by completing the parent survey. Students, staff and parents each complete a different survey, every year. The school uses this information to track our performance and work on ways to improve. It is very valuable. Please take a few minutes to help!
UPDATE: Transportation Notes:
Please dojo message me or email me directly with any last minute transportation change. Unfortunately messages sent to the office do not always make it to me in time due to the high volume of activity in the office. I will print out messages to use as notes.
Scholastic Book Orders
Our last scholastic book order for this year will be due on May 11, 2018. You can place you order one of two ways: 1) by returning the completed order along with the money back to school or 2) By ordering through the Scholastic site using our class code: QBYVR . Remember every book you order gives our class points in which we can use to order more resources and book for our class library. Also consider checking out our class wish list, where you'll find books that we would love to have donated to our class library.
Graded work comes home weekly, please make sure that you check your child's binder each night.
You will receive a slip of colored paper with the DFA score on it. Please look at those carefully.
You can also setup a FOCUS account to see all grades anytime. Contact the office to do so.
It is very important that students complete the math homework as practice of the lesson. In addition I am adding many links to my math page, so that additional instruction and practice can happen at home. Khan Academy is an excellent site that uses videos to teach math concepts. They have added Eureka Math/Engage NY videos, so students can relearn the lesson of the day if needed. Please look at the math page of my website to find the links.
This is the BEST online resource to help your child improve their STAR scores. Just 20 minutes a day can have a very big impact.
Math Parent Tip Sheets
On the math page of my website I have uploaded and linked all of the Parent tip sheets for the module we are working on. Please view or print for advice on helping with homework.
